Title-Water “is swallowing us up”: Catastrophic floods hit Houston
At this moment in time I can relate to these people and their families because right now my grandmother is trapped in her own house in Puerto Rico and it has left me and my family feeling very emote with deject and worriedness (I don’t know what the tense would be for that so sorry) only recently have we heard from her but since then radio silence. My other grandmother was also in Florida when the storm hit there luckily all of them are ok, but at least there they received a warning unlike Houston who has their mayor trying to cover himself by saying things like this “He said there was no way to know which neighborhoods would be most vulnerable.” From Water “is swallowing us up”: Catastrophic floods hit Houston. Ok that’s awesome but you still knew that it was going to hit and it was going to be horrible so you were kinda remiss when it came to this.“If you think the situation right now is bad and you give an order to evacuate, you are creating a nightmare,” he said, citing the risks of sending the city’s 2.3 million inhabitants onto the highways at the same time.”From Water “is swallowing us up”: Catastrophic floods hit Houston. Yeah ok cause people sleeping on their roofs and staying in shelters is soooo much easier to deal with then traffic right.
(Let it be known that one car would probably be me, with my sense of direction.)
“In Friendswood near Houston, authorities asked people with flat-bottomed airboats or fuel for them to help rescue people, KPRC-TV in Houston reported Sunday morning.” I’m sorry but you see the irony here right?
Anyways where was I, ah yes the hurricane blob. “The storm was barely moving. Rainfall totals varied across the region, with Galveston receiving around 8 inches (20 centimeters), Houston 11 (28 centimeters) and Aransas 10 (25 centimeters). Tiny Austwell got 15 inches (38 centimeters).” All these places were and still are in need yet we are yelling about NFL players luckily the storm has expelled itself from Texas.
Everything that has been happening recently to America just goes to show us we are not as all powerful as we believe and we are not together enough as a community or even a species when it comes to these are any kinds of things this should show us that we NEED to become more prepared for things like this in the future. We truly should have had a strong impulse to help them and Puerto Rico yet we don’t and we barley are and that includes our president, maybe this is just a conjecture but its how I’m seeing it as a person who’s family is in the middle of it.
